General Comments
This page seems to have a large gauge (O, Garden?) tilt to it. Maybe it could be cleaned up a bit to be more inclusive of all gauges? {NTrackMind}
Also, this page doesn't really say much about laying track (which I was expecting), maybe adding different subsections on laying track (hand lay, outdoor, snap track). {NTrackMind 14:00, 13 June 2007 (EDT)}
- Perhaps this page could contain general information on track work common to all scales and have separate articles for track work specific to a scale. I'm just getting started so I do not have enough knowledge on completing this task, however, I can assist with page layout. Does this sound like something you would be willing to tackle if I split up the pages?
- Also, I just created this page as a start - as with many pages on the DCCWiki. I'm also new to train modeling and still learning. I originally started the DCCWiki to help me organize my notes on DCC and other various topics on trains. See my [User:TazzyTazzy|user page] on why I started this website. That might explain why many pages are short or don't have allot of information. Again, you are welcome to add actual track work information. {TazzyTazzy 14:52, 14 June 2007 (EDT)}
Track Selection
This should be split up into different sections based on gauge or scale {NTrackMind 14:00, 13 June 2007 (EDT)}
- I think many of the arguments made in this section apply to all scales, however, we could add a table the splits up the various scales for items such recommended minimum curve, avg cost per foot, etc. Many different values could be kept in a single table. {TazzyTazzy 14:52, 14 June 2007 (EDT)}
Metal Types
Rename be "Track Types"? Add Manufacturers? Expand to all scales? {NTrackMind 14:00, 13 June 2007 (EDT)}
- It should be expanded to include other scales. Feel free to suggest other scales that would be good for other metal types, go for it.
- In the "metal type" versus "track type", I think "metal" is a better term as it denotes what the tracks are made up, not the spacing, how many rails, rail head width/height ratios, etc. I would think those would be more fitting under a "track type" heading. Perhaps explaining the differences of ratios, tie spacing, etc. {TazzyTazzy 14:52, 14 June 2007 (EDT)}
